How to Type the Squared Symbol on Any Device

squared symbol

The Squared Symbol is one of the most popular mathematical operations, but how do you express the sign for the squared value on a computer or mobile device?

The square function in trigonometry is a valuable tool for simulating periodic processes because it can be used to determine the equivalent angles and side lengths of congruent triangles.

The Pythagorean theorem may be used in physics to determine the distance between two places, and represented events frequently take the mathematical form of a square function, especially equations involving velocity and acceleration.

Some of the basic types of polynomials in algebra are built on the square function (quadratics).

In algebra, trigonometry, and physics, the square function is incredibly helpful. Because the resultant number, n2, corresponds to the area of a square with sides of length n, raising a number n to the power of 2 is known as “squaring.”

You’ll need to rely on workarounds if you’re an aspiring Einstein on an iPhone and your “E=MC” is lacking anything in order to make the square sign appear.

However, although offering a wide variety of iPhone symbols, Apple’s built-in virtual keyboard does not permit users to make a squared sign (such as the little “2” in this example: 32), at least not as of 2018’s most recent update to iOS 11.

It’s difficult to discover on most keyboards, like many mathematical symbols. To “square” a number in algebra is to multiply it by itself. For instance, the square of 5 is 25, as 25 is the result of multiplying 5 by 5.

Here is a short tutorial on how to complete that activity, saving you the time of a Google search. Inserting a squared sign might be challenging given the variety of tools and software available today.
