This first Narnia film totally captivated my me and my imagination the first time I watched it. The story is about four children sent away to a country house to escape the bombings of London during World War 2.

One day, the children are playing hide and seek in the house, when one of the siblings called Lucy hides in a magically wardrobe that is the gateway to Narnia.

In that magical land they meet a noble lion called Aslan who is fighting a war against the evil White witch. The children join sides with Aslan and lead armies to defeat the evil that occupies this paradise.

This installment of Narnia is a great addition to the series because the children have all grown up from the previous movie.

Set only one year after the original Narnia film, the children return to Narnia through the magical wardrobe and discover that the evil powers have emerged once again.

Time operates differently in the land past the wardrobe, so one year in the real world was 1300 years in Narnia. This means old powers have fallen and new ones have risen. One of which is called Prince Caspian.

The children will join Prince Caspian in his venture to destroy the evil which has returned.

Voyage of the dawn treader is a perfect end to the series. The children once again find themselves propelled into Narnia, this time from a magical painting. Narnia seems to call upon them when the realm needs help.

Unfortunately Susan and Peter are missing from this film but other characters such as Eustace are present.

This time there is a green mist which controls the minds and bodies of men and resides on a mysterious island. Only the seven lost lords of Narnia can defeat this mist, so Prince Caspian and the children set out to find them.

The Next Narnia Movie

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is said to be the next movie as it’s the next book after the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. However, there has been some script change conflict between the stepson of C.S. Lewis and the studio creating the next movie. This caused production to be cut and a change in leadership to occur.

The Chronicles of Narnia Books In Order

There are many more Narnia books than there are movies. If you are truly a Narnia fan then you would enjoy reading these books after you watch the Narnia movies in order.

There are only three Narnia movies, and four more books continue the story after the last movie: Voyage of The Dawn Treader. Only the Silver Chair movie has been rumored to be released, but not the last three.

C.S Lewis has created seven masterpieces that you can read. Each of these classic books describes the magical land of Narnia, epic battles and mystical creatures.

The books have been released in chronological order of the story just like the movies. We have organized them into a chronological list below that you can read from start to finish.

  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950)
  • Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia (1951)
  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952)
  • The Silver Chair (1953)
  • The Horse and His Boy (1954)
  • The Magician’s Nephew (1955)
  • The Last Battle (1956)

Reading the Narnia books would be my number one recommendation if you are ever craving a fantasy adventure. These books are great for kids and also adults.
