How To Copy And Paste On MSI Laptop
Here are the commands you need to know to quickly copy and paste images or text on your laptop:
- Copy: Ctrl + C
- Paste: Ctrl + V
- Cut: Ctrl + X
copy and paste With mouse
To copy and paste text with your mouse simply highlight the text you want to copy, right click it and click copy. Then click on the location which you want to paste it and right click then click paste.
To copy and paste files with your mouse, just right click on the file or folder you want to copy, then click copy. After that click on the location which you would like to place it, right click and press paste.
To copy and paste images with your mouse, do the same method as the files. Right click on the image and click on copy, then go to the paste location and right click paste. On programs such as photoshop you want to make sure you right click on the image layer and press duplicate.
Copy and pasting images, text or files with your mouse won’t work on Google sheets and it will prompt you to install new software to do so. So for Google sheets, I recommend just using the ctrl + C & ctrl + V commands.
copy and paste With Keyboard
To copy and paste text with your keyboard, simply highlight the text you want to copy and press ctrl + C, then click on the paste location and press ctrl + V.
To copy and paste files with your keyboard, just click on the file or folder you want to copy and press ctrl + C, then click on the paste location and press ctrl + V.
To copy and paste images with your keyboard, do the same method as the files. Just click on the file or folder you want to copy and press ctrl + C, then click on the paste location and press ctrl + V.
Remember that once you press Ctrl + C, it will clear your clipboard and only the item that you just copied will be on the clipboard and pastable.
What is the clipboard
The clipboard is the laptop’s storage area for files, images or text that you copy. Once you copy an item it will be stuck on your clipboard until you restart your computer or copy another item.
Access the clipboard by pressing Windows key + V. You may have to press a button to enable the clipboard history for the first time. After you do this it will log all the text that you copy into that history. You can press clear all to remove things on your clipboard.
Sometimes when you exit a program or shut down your laptop you will be prompted with something like discard clipboard. Which will get rid of the pastable item on your clipboard.
There can only be one item pastable on the clipboard at once, with some exceptions to different devices or programs which have a clipboard history function.
When you copy an item, it will be saved in to a clipboard which will temporarily save your current item that you just copied. On some devices it will also have a history of text that you have copied previously. This is most commonly found on smart phones.
Cut and paste vs copy and paste
When you copy and paste in images or text on your laptop, you are making a duplicate of that item. You will be able to still see the item in the place where you copied it as well as the place where you pasted it.
However, if you use the cut shortcut instead of the copy shortcut, it will move the image or text from the position where you cut it to the position where you paste it. This means that there is no duplicate and you have simply moved the file.
You can cut and paste sections of images in programs like photoshop, it will just move that selected section to a different layer. If you copy and pasted the section, it will make a new layer with that section but also keep the previous image intact.
Hopefully by now you have learned how to copy and paste on your MSI laptop. The process is very simple but can be tricky if there are some programs which restrict copy and paste methods like Google Sheets.
